Choose a new learning method!

The Museum of Illusions in Belgrade organizes an experimental workshop for primary and secondary school students – Brainstorm outside the classroom, which develops interdisciplinary competencies of students and improves practical knowledge. These benefits are also the goal of current educational reform within the curriculum and a goal-oriented learning. Most of the Museum exhibits are closely related to sciences such as geometry, optics, biology, computer science and psychology and represent the practical implementation of these fields. As part of the interactive workshop, students will have the opportunity to get familiar with the concept of dilemma games that represent a novelty in education and educational process. In addition to educational value, Brainstorma workshop is also useful for a social connection, because students learn about cooperation, developing team spirit and mutual understanding. The quality of the mentioned programs was also recognized by the Institute of Education Development, which recommends these educational programs. Teachers and professors can choose one of the two following packages and we present the concept and advantages of both.

The package includes:

  • Classroom Brainstorming workshop in the form of an Interactive Workshop held in school premises for 2 school hours
  • A tour of the Museum: 1 hour duration
  • A debate that takes place in the school premises for 1 school hour

Classroom Brainstorming workshop

The workshops are planned in a time frame of two school hours during physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, psychology or informatics classes.
The program consists of a theoretical part in which educators present the plan and program of the workshop and a creative part during which students create individual practical units. The workshop goal is for students to improve thinking, logical reasoning and strengthen focus and concentration in a fun and creative way, and to acquire new knowledge through play and fun.

The Museum tour is planned as a supplement to the teaching unit provided by the curriculum for lower and higher grades. The program consists of museum tour with professional guidance where students can acknowledge the practical application of school materials through examples of museum exhibits. Some exhibits represent the practical application of school materials such as Kaleidoscope, whose functioning is based on axial geometry, Room With Mirrors that uses the principles of optics, Vortex tunnel based on the laws of psychology and many other exhibits based on the principles of science.
Students in this phase have a specific task given by educator, and while researching the setting they also prepare for the upcoming discussion.

Debate

Duration of the last phase is 45 minutes and it is being realized within the classroom. It includes an interactive knowledge quiz through which professional educators will check whether students have managed to find the correct answer to a given question and summarize their impressions by participating in the debate; and the rest of the class will be dedicated to the problem of solving logic-didactic games. The unique dilemma games are adapted to all ages and enhance concentration, self-control, flexibility, spatial and cognitive abilities, as well as organizational skills.
